Okay so I was gonna write something about being an author this week but frankly, I'm too pissed to really bother with that right now.
So, do you guys remember just a little while ago, when Osama Bin Laden got his face shot through? (If you don't then you live under a rock) Do you remember when people were cheering in the streets, waving signs, grinning happily? Do you remeber our society celebrating the death of this man? Do you also remember the topic of the death penalty, and all those years we've been taught that "Killing anyone is wrong"? Yet there we were, celebrating not the possibility of victory in a war, but the death of a single, derranged man. I'm not saying we should've been sad. But frankly this hypocrisy enraged me. I believe in the "Eye for an eye" philosophy, especially when it comes to killing. But most people, in their glorious, righteous idiocy stand firmly with their illusions of all life being sacred. Where did that belief go when this man died? So we see that the "Great People of America" are hypocrites, and I despise that.
And on the topic of the despicable, let's veer off to the lovely world of politics. I've always known politicians were full of crap. I came to the realization that their "Debates" and "Discussions" were nothing more than a couple snakes slithering about to end up on top long before AP Language, but now I know just how much manipulation they pour into their statements. And exactly what to call their little rhetoric ploys. It's like Howard Beale says: It's all bullshit. You turn on the TV and that's all you get. So I don't turn on the TV anymore as a, shall we say, "Bullshit Filter".
But what is one to do, when hypocrisy and bullshit get past the filter? What does one do when the bullshit is coming from a person one cannot feasably filter out? One waits til he's 18, and shuts his damn mouth.
*I'll be back on topic next week probably
On a side note, I'm gonna laugh if I get in trouble for this post, because honestly, that just proves my point.
100% agree. People are such hypocrites when it comes to these things. Everyone is living, breathing, and thinking human being. We all feel pain and happiness. What Osama did (if he even did anything) was wrong. Still people forget that he is a person to. Nobody knows what he has been through and what caused him to do bad things. I believe you judge a person for who they really are inside, not for what they have done on the out side.
ReplyDeleteWhile I fundamentally agree with us being hypocrites on this matter, to some extent the guy did deserve it. Regardless of whether or not he was involved in 9/11, he was the leader of a terrorist organization which ruined hundreds, if not thousands, of lives. He shoved bullshit down the throats of the youth (often with the help of other terrorist organizations)to convince men, women, and children that killing is ok. In specific (and while I doubt Osama was involved in this specific case, he certainly supported it) there was a television show which aired on middle eastern television (I forget which country it was). This show featured a mouse (who looked remarkably similar to Mickey Mouse) and other animals on the show who hosted the show. At face value it seemed like any normal kids show. but that was where the kid show ended. The entire show was dedicated to the glorification of suicide bombing (by children) as well as antisemitic views (in particular there was a rabbit who spoke about gnawing on the bones of Jews). So while perhaps Osama didn't do everything he claimed, he was a twisted being who supported the death and corruption of thousands. And while he was a human being, you have to consider this: did he deserve to even be human? with all of the malice and corruption he spread, should we even consider him on the same moral standing as a human being or as something much more evil and devoid of human emotion? What he did really is a reflection of his inner beliefs, and his inner beliefs seem pretty twisted to me. However, I don't think we should have killed him-it just lowers us to his level, and if we want to consider ourselves of a higher moral standing then we should have allowed him a trial. But this is the past, and now we must move forward to the future but remember this event, and the mistakes made during it. (also I realize this is a rant of sorts, but I am very passionate about this issue and as such have very strong opinions)

Ah, Aaron, I didn't word it very well in my post (Forgive my rage), but I never said he was a Hero. I'm glad the Bast*rd is dead. He got precisely what he deserved. My issue lies in the fact that there was cheering in the streets. I mean, what does that show the people of Iraq? A man some of them might have respected is now dead, and people in the land he spoke of as evil are cheering??
